Later this month all registered voters in South Africa will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the political party of their choice. With young voters, born as recently as 2006, this will be an opportunity to make their cross on the ballot sheet for the very first time and by doing so, make themselves heard. Hopefully their input may breathe new life into the lack-lustre political landscape we are currently enduring.

According to the IEC website, there are a staggering fifty two parties making their appearance in the list of parties contesting the national election, many of them for the very first time. Each party no doubt has the hope that they will garner enough votes to secure at least some representation in parliament. One can only wonder if the new parties are out trying to pick up votes lost by the 'big' parties or if they are out to woo the young voters...

On the flip-side South Africa miraculously shifted from a record period of constant loadshedding to a new record period of no loadshedding which has just passed its sixth consecutive week! Most South Africans are sceptical about this amazing turnaround and many have raised the question as to how soon after May the 29th we will once again be subjected to the negative impact of the constant and annoying power cuts.

In the interim we are enjoying a brief period in which potholes are repaired, road markings painted, and overgrown pavements neatly trimmed!

I am incredibly happy to report that all homes currently under construction within the 1st Phase of the Riverspray Lifestyle Estate in Vanderbijlpark, are now sold! This is a sure sign that there is a massive demand for quality housing within this popular security estate. Our planning department has already submitted more plans to the local council for approval which should bring two more phases to the market within the next few weeks. We plan to maintain, if not increase, the current level of construction activity on site and by doing so bring at least eight to ten completed homes to the market every sixty days.

We still have a small team busy prepping our Fernhill site in Bryanston for construction to commence there once we have all approvals in place. The required signage warning motorists of the building activity to be expected was also recently erected on Homestead Avenue.

With our last Brendavere Estate homes being completed this month, we will utilise the coming weeks to deal with the upgrade of the common property and estate entrance before moving off site. The directors serving on the newly formed home-owners association have already earmarked a few projects to further enhance the residents experience within this stunning security estate.

The installation of civil services to our Van Der Hoff Park Township in Potchefstroom are well underway and on track to be completed within the next two months. Our planning department is now getting the required paperwork submitted to the relevant council departments for approval. Once approval has been received, clients who have reserved stands within the Elemente security estate, directly next to the Potchefstroom Dam, will be in the position to take ownership of their stands and to immediately commence with construction of their future homes.

Not only will the township services also unlock the Uitsig residential site, they will further unlock another three residential sites to the south of the Vyfhoek Shopping Centre. This will bring another 128 residential opportunities ripe for development to this expanding township.
